The Departed
Directed by Martin Scorcese
Starring Jack Nicholson, Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon and Mark Whalburg
Set in Boston, Massechusus with a mixtured theme of the late 20th century and early 21st century style. The story follows a police officer (Leonard Dicaprio) who has gone undercover in the Boston underworld as an informant for the Boston police's special unit. It is his job to infaltrate Boston kingpin (Jack Nicholson). However, whilst this is going on the mob has its own informant (Matt Damon) within the Boston police department.
A very good plot as both the police and the mob hit cross roads as each informant disrupts the business they are informing in in the hope to benefit their own faction.
A realy exciting, sometimes comical (thanks to Nicholson) film that also shows details of the strain it takes to work deep for the police or the mob.
Nicholson is full of chrasima, humour and intensity whilst Decaprio shines as a tough guy (once he grows a goatie) who is dealing with the reality that his job has entered him into. Damon does well due to the fact that you really start to hate his character and Whalberg is great playing a serious no nonsense police detective.
As the movie moves from fast pace to extremelly fast pace the only problem your have is trying to work out the reason why he killed him and he killed him etc, etc as scorcese is not shy to kill of characters even maybe some or all of the main characters?
